چکیده

We present a Chandra/ACIS-I observation of GRO J1744–28. We detected a source at a position of R.A = 17 44 33.09 and Dec. = –28 44 27.0 (J2000.0; with a 1σ error of ∼0.8 arcseconds), consistent with both ROSAT and interplanetary network localizations of GRO J1744–28 when it was in outburst. This makes it likely that we have detected the quiescent X-ray counterpart of GRO J1744– 28. Our Chandra position demonstrates that the previously proposed infrared counterpart is not related to GRO J1744–28. The 0.5–10 keV luminosity of the source is 2− 4× 10 erg s (assuming the source is near the Galactic center at a distance of 8 kpc). We discuss our results in the context of the quiescent X-ray emission of pulsating and non-pulsating neutron star X-ray transients. Subject headings: pulsars: individual (GRO J1744–28) — stars: neutron — Xrays: stars

SIMULTANEOUS NuSTAR/CHANDRA OBSERVATIONS OF THE BURSTING PULSAR GRO J1744-28 DURING ITS THIRD REACTIVATION

We report on a 10 ks simultaneous Chandra/HETG−NuSTAR observation of the Bursting Pulsar, GRO J1744−28, during its third detected outburst since discovery and after nearly 18 years of quiescence. The source is detected up to 60 keV with an Eddington persistent flux level. Seven bursts, followed by dips, are seen with Chandra, three of which are also detected with NuSTAR. Timing analysis reveals...

Hard X-Ray Spectroscopy and Pulsar Phase Analysis of the Bursting X-Ray Pulsar GRO J1744{28 with OSSE

We report OSSE observations of the bursting X-ray pulsar GRO J1744{28 made in December 1995 and January 1996 at hard X-ray energies > 35 keV. The pulse pro le of the persistent (i.e. non-bursting) pulsar emission is t with a sinusoid in the energy range 35{90 keV. Residuals reveal a second harmonic amplitude of 3:0 0:5% of the fundamental. The distribution of time intervals between bursts measu...

A strange star model for GRO J 1744 - 28

A model is suggested for the bursting x-ray pulsar, GRO J1744-28, where the compact object of the pulsar is proposed to be a strange matter star with crusts. It is suggested that two envelope crusts shield the two polar caps of an accreting strange stars owing to strong polar-cap magnetic fields. GRO J1744-28 might not have a unified crust, but two polar crusts. Bursts are the result of phase t...

The unusual properties of the bursting X-ray pulsar GRO J1744-28 are explained in terms of a low-mass X-ray binary system consisting of an evolved stellar companion transferring mass through Roche-lobe overrow onto a neutron star, implying that the inclination of the system is < 18. Interpretation of the QPO at frequency QPO = 40 Hz using the beat-frequency model of Alpar & Shaham and the measu...
